Chen Residence
Designed by JYYJ Associates
Embracing a bold, eclectic aesthetic, this renovation transforms an apartment into a vibrant celebration of color and retro charm. The layout was reimagined into a seamless social core, anchored by a custom dining area. A channel-tufted sage banquette wraps around an onyx-patterned table, paired with mustard cantilever chairs. A spherical pendant adds mid-century flair, while a suspended stainless-steel shelf provides bright, open storage. The kitchen complements this with wood cabinetry and a pastel green grid-tile backsplash, contrasting playfully with a dusty pink sliding partition. We wanted the living area to be a whimsical sanctuary layered with rich textures. A warm brown sofa sits alongside a plush, dusty-pink Togo lounger and a brilliant patterned pouf, resting on a vintage rug. Playful elements, like wavy display shelves and bold floral curtains, inject joyful personality. This approach extends into the bathrooms, treated as vibrant jewel boxes. One features immersive terrazzo walls with a peach vanity, while the other balances pale green tiles with an arched mirror. The result is a tactile, deeply personal home that joyfully defies convention.
